Saw it last night and enjoyed it tremendously.

Warner Brothers choosing to go with the branding of ‘Birds of Prey’ over ‘Harley Quinn’ was clearly a miscalculation of EPIC proportions. Harley Quinn has probably been DC’s most popular “new” character since her introduction in the 1990s. And Robbie appeared to carry at least 3/4ths of this film, despite a stellar supporting cast shoring up the rest. This movie was mostly The Harley Show, and Warner Brothers failed both Robbie and fandom by not giving the character top billing right out of the gate.

I also think that trying to distance the film from Suicide Squad––a film which I f@&#ing loved––was another miscalculation. The narratives of these films are connected. That fact is impossible to ignore. And there’s an audience out there that, like I, actually loved Suicide Squad. The WB should have gone out of its way to woo them.

Well, it’s beyond obvious now that they should have done a lot of things.
