In the 1980s, Gen X kids totally used the word ‘totally’ as a form of slang that would intensify the meaning of other words. (See totally bitchin’) So it seemed quite fitting to use it in the title of this piece to help distinguish it from fellow Fanfare writer Hogan Torah’s hilarious “The 10 Most Traumatizing PG Rated Movies Gen X Watched as Kids.”

Hogan is totally my inspiration.

Well, at least as it relates to this listicle. Otherwise, he seems a bit sus. (You should follow him.)

Anywho, with most of his PG-rated movie picks, my Gen X peer totally nailed it. This was especially true for his top pick: the total downer known as Watership Down. But his list left me feeling there were some majorly missed opportunities that I, being a couple of years older, could place in their rightful historical context.

So my goal here was to feature the totally gnarly PG-rated movies that traumatized Gen X kids — and even some adults.

Among the latter was a sitting US president.
